Santorini is the southernmost island of the Cyclades group of islands located in the South of the Aegean Sea. In 1500 BC, the island and surrounding small islands were formed asa result of a large volcanic eruption. This catastrophe is believed to be referenced by Plato a monument about the continent of Atlantis. The blue-domed churches are Santorini’s most characteristic features. Perhaps, the most beautifully decorated bars, restaurants and accommodation areas are located on the amazing cliffs of Thira with romantic sea views. The volcanic beaches stretching on the north-south strip make the island an even more attractivedestination.
During the extra tours organised by Miray Cruises (upon request), you can view the entire island from St. Elias Mountains, which is the highest point of the island, visit the unique villages of Oia and Fira, enjoy the sea at the beaches covered with volcanic sand, and in the village of Megalochori, taste wine made from grapes indigenous to the island.
